python-mysql.connector software package provides pure Python implementation of MySQL Client/Server protocol, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install python-mysql.connector
python-mysql.connector is installed in your system.
Make ensure the python-mysql.connector package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep python-mysql.connector *
You will get with python-mysql.connector package name, version, architecture and description in a table
